Developed by the turfgrass experts at Oklahoma State University, Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass pushes the geographic boundaries of bermudagrass into the northernmost reaches of the Transition Zone. Highly cold tolerant, the name “Tahoma” comes from the Native American word that means “frozen water.”

Use Tahoma 31 to design golf courses that are beautiful, sustainable, easier to maintain and play great.

Intended Use: Commercial, Golf, Residential, Sport

Mowing Height: 1/4″ – 1 1/2″

WATERING

    • Tahoma 31 showed superior drought resistance over four standard cultivars tested, and averaged 18% less water use than TifTuf.

MOWING

    • Tahoma 31 had a lower vertical growth rate than all of the industry standards tested. Low vertical growth rate produces a reduced need for regular mowing and/or maintenance.
    • Mowing Height: 1/4″ – 1 1/2″

COLD TOLERANT

    • Plant Tahoma 31 further north for a strong base in the winter that fights wilt in the summer.

DROUGHT RESISTANT

    • Use less water. Takes 18% less water than TifTuf.

COLOR

    • Tahoma 31 needs 4-5 hours of sun.

SALT TOLERANCE

    • Among 10 experimental grasses and one older cultivar (Tifway) tested, Tahoma 31 was ranked #1 when tested for salinity response.
